Purchasing power meters with LoRa interface at EMU Metering
Are you looking for a modern energy meter that makes it possible to reliably transmit energy data even across longer distances or regions whose infrastructure is underdeveloped? Then, the energy meters with LoRa interface are the perfect choice for you!
Get to know the benefits of EMU Metering’s smart meters and keep an eye on your energy consumption data in any environment in the age of IoT using LoRa radio technology - reliable and suited for modern energy management according to ISO 50001.
What is the benefit of power meters with LoRa interface?
In short, the advantage of the interface is that the collection of usage data is based on the foundation of LoRa (short for “long range”) radio technology. The benefits of this technology include that it is an open system that is essentially accessible to anyone and in principle accessible across the world. Furthermore, it has a communication range of up to 10 km. This is a key advantage, for example, when it comes to the remote readout of energy data on a large area.
How does data collection via LoRa work?
For the LoRa radio standard, a connection is established via the public domain ISM band (industrial, scientific and medical band). Here, small data packages are sent wirelessly via so-called chirp signals. The fact that LoRa is only suitable for the transmission of small data packages has the benefit of keeping energy costs for operation very low and battery run times correspondingly long. Essentially, data collection occurs as follows:
- Data is collected via a sensor (e.g. electricity meter or temperature sensor) and transmitted to a gateway via LoRa.
- The gateway forwards the data to a LoRa server.
- The LoRa server receives the data and processes them. They are then made available via API.
In addition, LoRa is a bidirectional communication system. This means that in addition to receiving data, changes can also be made to the measuring device without requiring physical access to the meter. Modifications such as adjusting the configuration of the transmission interval can be comfortably and easily made from the server.
Are you looking for other products in addition to LoRa for sustainable and efficient energy management in accordance with IoT? We have a comprehensive, high-quality product range with which you can keep track of your energy consumption in a consistent and clearly organised manner.
LoRa power meters in EMU-Metering’s online store
Part of our high-quality product range includes digital power meters. The three phase energy meters with MID authorisation can be equipped with various readout interfaces. This way, the smart DIN rail energy meters can also transmit measurement values via LoRa.
The measuring devices of the Professional II series can be directly connected or connected to a transformer to monitor consumption data. Since the meters are equipped with graphic, backlit LCD displays, data and settings can be read out effortlessly. This way, the status of the LoRa network connection can also be easily reviewed.
The LoRa interface of the meters ensures a constant and active connection to the gateway, since optimum parameters for sending and receiving are constantly adjusted. Accordingly, you can rely on LoRa any time and anywhere, since the interface of the energy meter can be used at any time thanks to the class C device.
Are you operating a LoRa network that does not support class C devices? No problem! Electricity meters of the EMU Professional II series are mutable: in this case, the meter adapts and acts like a class A device.
For your information:The measurement accuracy of energy meters is indicated in the accuracy classes A, B, and C. Class C meters have the highest accuracy.
The LoRa-enabled electricity meters of the EMU Professional II series are available as two different designs. You have the choice between meters with built-in LoRa antenna, or meters with a built-in antenna and external SMA connector for an external LoRa antenna. Thus, the installation site of the energy meter can be optimally selected.
The EMU electricity meters are delivered with the following configurations:
- JoinMode: OTAA
- DevEUI (starts with 102CEF)
- Appkey
- AppEUI (10 2C EF 00 00 00 00 00)
Furthermore, the electricity meters with a LoRa interface have an additional S0 pulse interface that can be configured for active and reactive energy.
High-quality electricity measuring devices and reliable radio technology make remote readouts a sure thing. Complete your modern energy management, increase your efficiency, and save effort in the collection of usage data. LoRa power meters and other high quality, reliable products by EMU Metering make it possible.
