The 3-phase bidirectional power meter EMU Professional II 3/5 M-Bus for DIN rail mounting is suitable for energy management as per ISO 50001 and energy cost billing. What is M-Bus?

M-Bus stands for “Meter Bus” and refers to a technical standard, with which used energy is made available as analysable measurement data. It thus serves the purpose of electronic meter data transmission. For this reason, the M-Bus communication system is used in digital energy meters and so-called “smart metering”.

The transmission of usage data via M-Bus requires a so-called master (a level converter or M-Bus data logger). The measuring devices connected to it, so-called M-Bus slaves, transfer their data to the master via two-wire line, where they are collected, stored, and possibly processed further. The transfer speed of the energy data depends on the operating processes of the connected devices.

Advantages power meters with M-Bus

Meters with an M-Bus interface can be used for a variety of different measurement data. They can record the usage data for heat, water, gas, and electricity meters along with the system via remote meter readouts. An additional advantage is that a large number of meters can be connected in a bus system, which can also be powered via the bus. M-Bus systems are comparable affordable and easy to install; reverse polarity protection can minimise the danger of possible damage as a result of improper installation.
